Inspiration is everywhere. . .if you know where to look.

I have heard this many times and, as an author, I have to agree.

I enjoy looking at the world around me to gain ideas for my stories. I love those "Ah-ha!" moments when I see or hear things that get my mind racing as I think of ways in which to add them to my story. I cannot wait to get to my computer or a pen and paper to quickly jot it down.

This blog post is going to be in picture form, showing you the top three things that inspire me and trigger story ideas.

Enjoy!

My family. Of course! They have all been gifted with different personalities, talents, abilities and humor that I am able to observe and gain ideas for the characters in my stories. Many of my characters' personalities are a combinations of my family's. I hope they don't mind :)

Definitely in the quiet and the stillness (if Stewart doesn't pull too much!) of walking my dog, when my mind is at rest, I find myself putting together story ideas where they might be muddled at home. Being outside in God's inspiring creation doesn't hurt either!

Reading good books, specifically the age range I write for is extremely helpful. What better place to gain ideas than from reading books myself? I have learned that as an author, one of the best things for me to do is to read good literature. I especially enjoy reading books that are intended for the age group I write for and reading historical books to collect ideas for future stories.
